Walton Park Design is led by Brian Bitner, a residential designer with more than two decades of experience across design, construction, and project management. He works directly with homeowners on kitchen renovations, bathroom remodels, and interior reworking, bringing design judgment grounded in how projects are actually built, scoped, and delivered.
The practice is based in the Berkshires and Boston, working across New England and the Mid-Atlantic.
Brian’s background bridges two worlds that are often kept separate. He approaches design with the eye of a designer and the discipline of someone who has worked inside construction—understanding scope, sequencing, trade coordination, and the small decisions that determine whether a project feels calm and grounded or unnecessarily complicated.
That house was not a theoretical exercise. It became a daily education in how design decisions hold up over time, how older houses respond to change, and how important it is to resolve difficult questions early, before construction turns them into costly or disruptive surprises.
When it came time to name the practice, Walton Park felt inevitable. It reflects a belief that good residential design begins with understanding a home from the inside out.
Over the years, that has included an 1880s home, a 1901 home, an 1890s home, and an 1870s home in the Berkshires, known as Meadowview. Each brought different constraints and lessons—structure, circulation, light, storage, and the realities of working within existing conditions.
That lived experience is reinforced by decades of client work on older homes, where similar decisions play out across a wide range of contexts and scales. Together, these experiences inform Brian’s work with homeowners today, particularly when the goal is to improve function while respecting what makes a home worth preserving.
Drawings anticipate real conditions. Details are resolved early. Materials are chosen for how they perform and age, not for trends.
Throughout construction, Brian remains closely involved—coordinating with builders and trades and representing the homeowner. The role is simple: protect the design intent, keep decisions clear, and help the project move forward without unnecessary disruption.

“Design should bring clarity to how a home is lived.”
